I love staying at different and unique hotels and Lantern Hotel in Kuala Lumpur was definitely one of them. I had a chance to stay there in February, while traveling through Malysia. The recently renovated boutique hotel incorporates the industrial style with a touch of brights red lanterns. It is situated in the heart of the Chinatown on pedestrian street Jalan Petaling, in the middle of the night market. The whole building itself is something special. Brick walls with openings let the building literally breath. There is an inner courtyard filled with natural lighting and flowers hanging from the ceiling that add a cool natural element to the otherwise industrial design. The hotel as the name suggest is full of red lanterns, which is in Chinese culture considered as the luckiest colour. The hotel itself is affordable. The rooms are simple, however a bit small, but for the price you are paying this is definitely a good deal. Rates start at 95 RM which is roughy 20 euros per night. The breakfast is included in the price and they serve the best coffee. They also have really awesome terrace to enjoy your breakfast in the morning or for the drinks in the evening overlooking the night market. The rooms are clean and the fact that hotel was recently renovated means that the mattresses are of good quality and bed really comfy. Bathroom features a rain shower and free shampoo, conditioner and bath gel. The front desk is open 24/7 and they offer free luggage storage after you check out.
