Highlights of Bled | Slovenia

5-things-to-do-in-3

Bled, one of the most charming places in Slovenia. The magical lake with little island and church on it. It might be the most touristic place in Slovenia, but Bled truly is amazing. If you are a first time visitor or even if you lived in Slovenia your whole life, Bled never fails to amaze. So what are the things that you need to see and do, where to stay and where to go for a drink to have the best experience ever?

Enjoy the views

So, you want to take the finest photos and have the best view over the lake? Hike up to the Osojnica or Mala Ojstrica for a truly spectacular view. Mala Ojstrica, only a short 20 minutes hike is also called the photographers paradise and will surely leave you breathless.

Experience the lake

The best way to really explore the lake itself is to rent a boat or even paddle board if you want to. The price for a small boat is 15 euros per hour, but in my experience 1 hour is simply not enough, if you really want to enjoy the lake and at your own pace. Row to the island, explore the island, have a cream cake and ring a bell and make a wish.

Walk the Vintgar Gorge

Just 4 kilometres out of Bled, Vintgar Gorge invites you to enjoy in the unspoilt the nature and cool down in this summer heat. Nice walk on the trail that lasts approximately 1 hour leads your through stunning scenery with clear emerald water and lots of photo opportunities.

Have a drink at Cafe Belvedere

What a better way to relax than with a glass of wine and famous Bled Cream Cake. Head over to Cafe Belvedere that offers just that, alongside with a gorgeous view!

Sleep in glamping huts

If you want something unique and different, but still be in contact with nature than you should definitely try glamping. We stayed in Gozdne vile glamping huts located at Bled Camping site. These cute little huts each with their own private bathroom, offer also wood-fired hot tubs (some of them – check which one you book!) and sauna, but with additional charges. In the morning a basket full of goodies awaits for you to have breakfast. All in all, glamping offers a perfect way for a little relaxation in nature, but still with a luxury of a real bed.
