Burano has been on my bucket list for quite some time now and even though I visited Venice a few times before I never had a chance to visit this colourful island. In the past Burano was famous for its lacemaking , nowadays it is famous for its colourful houses which you can see all over Instagram lately. We stopped only for a day in Venice and spent a couple of hours on Burano island wandering around and getting lost in between small alleyways, walking past pastel coloured houses and boats docked in canals… Since Burano is fairly small island half day is enough to visit and explore the whole island thoroughly. I really enjoyed this small colourful island, getting lost between the alleyways and canals. Hope you enjoy this short photo diary from our trip.
HOW TO GET THERE?
To reach Burano you can take water taxi (vaporetto) no. 12 from ferry terminal Fondamente Nove. The ride takes approximately 45 minutes and it’s a lovely scenery ride. On the way you pass Murano island (known for its glassmaking), Mazzorbo and then reach Burano. The ticket costs 7 EUR per person.
